At least 17 people have been killed in a military plane crash in the southern Philippines, but 40 were pulled alive from the burning wreckage.
The tactical vehicle airplane was conveying 92 individuals, generally troops, when it overshot the runway on Jolo island. Survivors were taken to a close by military medical clinic. Seventeen bodies were found at the accident site. A huge wad of dark smoke was seen over the destruction of the plane, a C130 Hercules. The state news office conveyed photos of the site showing consuming trash in a lush region near various buildings.The plane, which descended at 11:30 neighborhood time (03:30 GMT) a couple of kilometers from the town of Jolo, was conveying troops from Cagayan de Oro, on the southern island of Mindanao. “It missed the runway, attempting to recapture power however it didn’t make it,” military boss Gen Sobejana told columnists.
